William C. Vance, Chairman & CEO

William Vance has served as Chairman of Vance Publishing Corporation since 1970. Vance is a privately-owned business-to-business media company that was started in 1937 by William’s father, Herbert A. Vance. Mr. Vance is a strong supporter of the arts in Chicago, where he serves on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Compensation Committee of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as a Board member of the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Opera Center. He is also a Sustaining Fellow with the Art Institute of Chicago.

Peggy Walker, President & COO

Peggy Walker joined Vance in 2004 and was named its President & COO in 2005. She has held executive, management, editorial, operations and audience development positions at media companies over the course of her 25+ year career. Peggy has been an active member of American Business Media, the trade association for business media companies, and served as its Chair in 2009-2010. In 2007, ABM named Peggy the McAllister Top Management Fellow; and in 2008, she was a Gertrude Crain Women in B2B honoree. In 2006, Peggy was named one of the 21 Most Intriguing People by min magazine, and she has been included among the 100 Who’s Who in Business Publishing by Crain’s Media Business magazine from 2005 to 2011.

Lori Eppel, CFO

Lori Eppel joined Vance in 2007 and serves as its Chief Financial Officer, overseeing all accounting and finance functions. She also oversees the HR, Office Services and IT departments. Prior to joining Vance, Lori held management-level finance positions at Advantage Business Media, a privately-held publishing company; Reed Business Information; and Advanstar Communications.

Dean Horowitz, Vice President, eMedia & Market Intelligence

Dean Horowitz joined Vance in 2010 and is involved in the development and execution of digital strategies for the Vance organization as well its Market Intelligence Group (audience development, data, research, and analytics). This includes 65+ websites and communities, more than two dozen brands, multiple eNewsletters, SEO/SEM and SNS programs, mobile marketing, specialized and custom client programs, games, microsites, lead-generation services and eLearning. Additionally, Dean is responsible for revenue for the full Vance portfolio of web and digital products. Previously with Reed Business Information, Dean served as a General Manager, Director of eMedia, and Director of Product and Strategy Development. He is a recognized speaker on digital strategies at conferences and trade shows.

Shawn Etheridge, Vice President - Agribusiness

Shawn Etheridge is responsible for Vance's Agribusiness brands, including AgProfessional, Bovine Veterinarian, Citrus & Vegetable, Dairy Herd Management, Doane Advisory Services, Drovers Cattlenetwork, Greenbook Data Services, The Midwest Produce Conference & Expo, The Packer, PorkNetwork, Produce Retailer, and Red Book Credit Services. Shawn’s career has included positions as CEO and COO at Cool Creek Solutions, a privately-held information management enterprise providing Cloud-based employee benefit program administration and services to larger employers, as well as various senior-level positions with Penton Media.

Steve Reiss, Vice President & Publishing Director – Salon & Woodworking Divisions

Steve Reiss joined Vance in 2009 as Vice President and Publishing Director of the Salon and Woodworking Divisions. Steve is an active participant in both woodworking and salon industry conversations, and regularly presents at industry events on topics ranging from market reviews to social media/digital trends. Prior to joining Vance, Steve was with Reed Business Information, where he launched the Reed Electronics Group brand management initiative for the Reed Elsevier global portfolio of print, online, event and research products, and was involved in the launch of the industry’s largest globally distributed eNewsletter and some of the first business-to-business webcasts. Steve was also at Advanstar Communications, where he managed the Hospitality Group and helped launch the Integrating Technology Conference & Trade Show and Tech Tour (the hospitality industry's first technology roadshow). In 2011, Steve was included in the Folio 40, honoring individuals creating a new chapter for the magazine industry.
